About SAFETYNET
SAFETYNET strengthens disease prevention and control across the Asia Pacific by supporting applied epidemiology programs and surveillance systems. We partner with government, non-government, and international agencies to run Frontline, Intermediate, and Advanced Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETP).
About the Role
You will provide technical and managerial support to India's FETP programs, mentoring FETP officers in the field and coordinating training activities with hubs and partners.
Job Summary
To provide techno-managerial support to Frontline, Intermediate and Advance Filed Epidemiology Trainings in India as a technical member, s/he is expected to undertake following activities related to the field work, mentorship for FETP trainees:
Technical consultants for field epidemiology training programs
Supports field work related to FETP officer's Core Activity of Learning (CAL)– outbreak investigations, surveillance system assessments, program evaluations, and epidemiological projects
Work with FETP mentors to build capacity
Coordinates with training officers
Supports FETP officers in analyzing data related to surveillance, summarize, and report the findings of epidemiological research, proposals, publications, and presentations at national and international conferences
Prepare regular and ad hoc progress reports on partner activities
Provide technical direction to interested public health officials and organizations on how to develop proposals that result in a memorandum of understanding, grant, contract and/or cooperative agreement for interventions that deliver surveillance services
Review technical aspect of FETP reports related to public health response and facilitate administrative approval
Review scientific abstracts for conferences and scientific presentations at national/international forums
Review manuscripts for administrative submission and publications
Review progress of the FETP trainees on their CALs and support government and non-government partners in updating database of FETP officers projects
Coordinate common I-FETP/EIS hub activities like monthly seminars, field investigations, EIS/FETP annual conference, hub meetings and other activities as assigned.
Develop an epidemiological analysis plan, conduct descriptive and analytical epidemiological studies
Plan surveillance to assess disease/ health condition/ risk factor burden of public health importance
Support in documenting FETP program guidelines, standard operating procedures and required monthly and quarterly reports
Visit to placement sites and field investigation sites to mentor and monitor FETP Officers activities.
Any other work assigned by the Safetynet Team Lead or CDC Resident Advisor.
Who We're Looking For
Essential
MBBS or BDS, plus MD (Community Medicine), MPH, or a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health
Graduate of an FETP or EIS training program
At least 2 years of public health experience, including field epidemiology at state or national level
Preferred: India EIS training
Skills
Experience designing and managing epidemiological studies and research projects
Strong scientific writing and excellent English communication
Strong and proven documentation and organizational skills
Proficiency in MS Office, Jamovi/R, and QGIS
Ability to work with multiple partners and travel extensively at short notice
