[Pre-SAFETYNET Conference Workshop] Orientation to International Outbreak Response - GOARN & WHO

The Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) is a network composed of numerous technical and public health institutions, laboratories, NGOs, and other organizations that work to observe and respond to threatening epidemics. GOARN works closely with and under the WHO, which is one of its most notable partners. Its goals are to examine and study diseases, evaluate the risks that certain diseases pose, and improve international capability to deal with diseases.


WHO, GOARN and ANU will be conducting an Orientation to International Outbreak Response with GOARN and WHO (Tier 1.5 Training) on September 10(Sunday) prior to the SAFETYNET Scientific Conference on 11-15 September. The workshop will be conducted at ANU from 10am to 4pm. This training is being offered for free.


The workshop will:

- Introduces participants to the opportunities, processes, challenges and realities of a GOARN deployment;

- Enables participants to self-reflect upon their suitability for deployment;

- Provides participants with the necessary information to apply for deployment.


Those interested in attending this GOARN Tier 1.5 Training should download and fill-out the attached application form and send accomplished forms to Amy Parry (amy.parry@anu.edu.au) on or before 23 July 2023. Applications will be screened by the training organizers and accepted applicants will be notified by 26 July 2023.
