Indian Institute of Science Launches Interdisciplinary PhD in Public Health

The Isaac Centre for Public Health (ICPH) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has announced the launch of one of India’s first interdisciplinary PhD programs in Public Health for the academic year 2026–27.


IISc offers a unique academic ecosystem where public health research is integrated with expertise from basic sciences, engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence. This interdisciplinary approach creates exceptional opportunities for cutting-edge research aligned with India’s national health priorities.


Research Areas

Faculty interests span a wide range of public health domains, including:

  • Chronic disease epidemiology, prevention, and interventions

  • Women’s and adolescent health

  • Nutrition and population health

  • Environmental health
