India EIS/MAE Cohort 9 contact session conducted in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, Mar 20 -24, 2023

The India Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) training program is a 2-year program in applied epidemiology based at the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Delhi in collaboration with the Centers for disease control (CDC), USA.

In September 2022, the Master’s degree program, Master of Applied Epidemiology from the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU), Uttarakhand was integrated with the India EIS training program.

The Contact session for EIS cohort 9 was held from March 20-24 at HNBIMU, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. 14 public health officers from different states of India (e.g, Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh) attended the training with facilitators who are experts from NCDC, HNBIMU and SAFETYNET India.

SAFETYNET supports NCDC’s EIS training program technically. During this contact session, SAFETYNET program adviser for India, Dr. Sushma Choudhary, and senior technical officers, Dr. Mohan Kumar, and Dr. Satish Kumar participated as facilitators/trainers. Various topics of public health importance like surveillance evaluation, Epi info, Epi collect, Survey design and sampling were facilitated by SAFETYNET India team.
