Andhra Pradesh Achieves Major One Health Milestone with Graduation of First SectorConnect FEPOH Batch

Andhra Pradesh marked a significant milestone in strengthening its multisectoral public health workforce with the successful graduation of the first batch of the SectorConnect Field Epidemiology Programme in One Health (FEPOH) on 8 May 2026.

A total of 34 officers and 8 mentors representing the sectors of human health, animal health, food safety, and wildlife successfully completed the programme, reinforcing the state’s commitment to advancing the One Health approach in public health preparedness and response.

The FEPOH programme was designed to strengthen coordinated disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, risk assessment, and emergency response capacities across sectors, recognizing the interconnected nature of human, animal, and environmental health.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in practical field epidemiology activities, including field-based assignments, joint outbreak investigations, and technical learning sessions focused on evidence-based public health action and interdepartmental collaboration. The programme also emphasized strengthening communication and coordination among sectors to better address emerging and complex public health threats at the human-animal-environment interface.

The graduation of the first FEPOH cohort in Andhra Pradesh represents an important step toward operationalizing One Health initiatives within the state and building a resilient workforce equipped to respond effectively to evolving health challenges.

The successful completion of the programme highlights the growing importance of collaborative, multisectoral approaches in strengthening health security and advancing integrated public health systems.
