Following the successful completion of the applied management training course for the first cohort of Vietnamese health staff, a second cohort of 16 staff from provincial preventive medicine centers began their six months training in Hanoi this April. This year’s participants are from the following provinces: An Giang, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Bac Giang, BinhThuan, DakNong, KhanhHoa, Nam Dinh and Quang Ninh.
The first workshop was held from 10-13 April 2018. Following this workshop, participants will implement process improvement projects in their respective provinces. They will be assisted by their assigned field advisors.
In July a second workshop will be held in Ho Chi Minh City where participants will give updates on their projects and will learn how to use the Health Analysis for Planning Preventive Services (HAPPS) module in analyzing a priority health problem and designing an intervention plan. The course will conclude in September with a third workshop in Hanoi.
This year’s AMTC faculty is composed of trainers from the Hanoi University of Public Health (Dr. Do Mai Hoa, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Linh, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoang), Dr. Phung Duc Nhat from the Institute of Public Health in Ho Chi Minh City, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thuy. The course is supported by the General Department of Preventive Medicine of the Viet Nam Ministry of Health, SAFETYNET, andU.S. CDC.
