Contractual Arrangement: Project-based
Objective: The purpose of the position is to support the implementation of Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) Surveillance System in selected hospitals for early detection and monitoring of CRS. It will provide data for estimation of CRS burden and help improve the implementation of rubella vaccination.
Service period: One year with possibility of extension.
Description of Duties: The surveillance officer is expected to carry out the following activities related to Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) Surveillance:
Station will be at the Epidemiology Bureau (EB) but will visit Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD), sentinel hospital sites, and reference laboratory within the National Capital Region as necessary or directed
Active case finding and case investigation in sentinel hospitals
Facilitate specimen collection and transport from the sentinel hospital to the reference laboratory
Orient physicians, nurses, and other health care workers on CRS to heighten index of suspicion and improve diagnosis
Coordinate patient navigation within the sentinel hospital for suspected CRS cases to facilitate complete diagnostic work-up and management
Coordinate with MMCHD and City/Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Units (C/MESU) for continuous surveillance, contact tracing, and follow-up specimen collection and testing of confirmed CRS cases who are discharged from the hospital.
Data management, analysis, and production of weekly, monthly, and annual surveillance reports
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and PRC license in Nursing, Medical Technology, Public Health, or other allied health
At least one year experience in public health surveillance
Skills:
Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
Data management and analysis using various software packages (Excel, Google Sheets, Stata, and/or R)
Technical report writing
