Background

SAFETYNET, or South Asia Field Epidemiology and Technology Network, Inc. is an

organization that fosters collaboration and cooperation in disease prevention and

control efforts among countries in the Asia Pacific region by supporting applied

epidemiology programs and enhancing surveillance systems.


SAFETYNET cooperates with government, non-government, and international

agencies to increase inter-regional exchange, expertise sharing, and inter-agency

and interdisciplinary collaborations to build applied epidemiology capacity among

Asian nations. SAFETYNET supports frontline, intermediate and advance

epidemiology training.


SAFETYNET, through cooperative agreement with partners in Nepal, is committed to

support the country in running FETP programs and thus is looking forward to

recruiting highly qualified Nepali Citizen for the position of training officer.


Education

Bachelor degree or post-graduation field in public health field, veterinary,

epidemiology or related field. Evidence provides to graduate from advanced or

intermediate Field Epidemiology Training Program or having experience in working in

international organization or foreign placement will be advantageous.


Terms of Reference


Job Summary

The training officer will be reporting on a day-to-day basis to Nepal FETP Resident

Advisor or the FETP Director at National Health Training Center, Kathmandu, Nepal.

He or she is expected to perform the following tasks:

  • Assist FETP Resident Advisor, Nepal to coordinate and conduct FETP Frontline in Nepal

  • Assist to develop and manage the Learning management system (LMS) for FETP in Nepal

  • Assist FETP Resident Advisor to develop FETP intermediate curriculum in Nepal

  • Support to SAFETYNET country head in implementing SAFETYNET activities in Nepal

  • Work with Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal to conduct the FETP Plus workshops for FETP graduate

  • Manage and coordinate FETP administrative relationships and activities with universities of Nepal

  • Coordinate with mentors, FETP trainees of FETP frontline and Intermediate

  • Support FETP officers/trainees in analyzing data related to surveillance,

    summarize and report the findings of epidemiological research, proposals,

    publications for presentations at national and international meetings

  • Review technical aspect of FETP reports related to public health response and facilitate administrative approval

  • Review progress of the FETP trainees on their CALs and support government and non-government partners in updating database of FETP officers projects

  • Manage and provide logistic support for the FETP Intermediate and Frontline participants of Nepal. This includes organizing and communicating the weekly calendar, monthly calendar, curriculum, list of lectures, outbreak investigation database, and individual fellow portfolio of work, etc.

  • Maintain a database of FETP Advance, Intermediate and Frontline graduates

  • Support in documenting FETP program guidelines, standard operating procedures and required monthly and quarterly reports

  • Visit to placement sites and field investigation sites to mentor and monitor FETP Officers activities.

  • Any other work assigned by the SAFETYNET Executive Director, Deputy Director and SAFETYNET Country Head, Nepal.

  • Report progress of the training to SAFETYNET Country Head and FETP director


Working Experience and skills

  • Strong background in epidemiology, including outbreak investigations and public health surveillance.

  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs for public health professionals, veterinarians, environmental scientists, and other related group, particularly in field epidemiology training program is an advantage

  • Familiarity with MOHP and health systems in Nepal

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in both Nepali and English

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS

  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong team work and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in managing project including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation is an advantage


Renumeration

Salary will be commensurate with experience and in accordance with SAFETYNET’s

policy. Travel allowances and per diems will be provided for work-related trips.
