2018 Bi-Regional TEPHINET Meet in Vientiane

The Ministry of Health of the Lao PDR, in partnership with TEPHINET, SAFETYNET, and WHO is hosting the 9 th Southeast Asia and Western Pacific Bi-Regional TEPHINET Scientific Conference in Vientiane on November 4 to 9, 2018.

With conference theme, “Investing in FETP in the era of the Sustainable Development Goals,” the event will consist of pre-conference workshops on the first day, followed by the four-day conference proper. The conference provides a valuable opportunity for sharing of information among field epidemiologists in the two regions.

The event also offers opportunities to showcase outbreak investigations and other public health practice/research activities done by current trainees and graduates of the FET/AET programs. It also creates a worthwhile forum for networking among healthcare professionals from the many participant countries with their counterparts, thereby forging stronger alliances and strengthening the network.

The conference sessions and poster presentations provide venues to share experience and successes on FETP outputs and challenges in disease prevention and control, thereby advocating for further investment in field or applied epidemiology training.
